With all the production delays due to the untimely and unfortunate death of Paul Walker (Brian O’Conner), how this entry in the Furious saga was going to turn out felt like a gamble. However, I am pleasantly surprised with the results. I admit that I’m somewhat biased when it comes to these movies because I’m a big car lover (the only one I really didn’t like was Tokyo Drift), but Furious 7 is a solid action and car movie. Some might even consider it a solid superhero movie.
The Furious crew must seek out Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) who is out for revenge against the whole crew after they put his brother, Owen Shaw (Luke Evans), in a coma in the last film. From there, the movie feels like one cool car chase or hand-to-hand combat battle after another. It also features a surprise appearance by Kurt Russell and some pretty hilarious one-liners from Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson). My only complaints are that it is obvious Paul Walker’s role in the film was unfinished at the time of his death because he isn’t in it that much and sometimes this entry does get a little too ridiculous. Hence, why some might even consider it a superhero movie.
Those things aside, as long as you leave your brain at the door, you will have a good time. Also, if they make more, I will continue to watch them.
