Mad Max has returned after a thirty year hiatus since Beyond Thunderdome. It is a pretty glorious return all things considered, sure to please fan boys and newcomers alike.
Max (Tom Hardy) after being captured by Immortan Joe’s (Hugh Keays-Byrne) henchmen who are the rulers of the post-apocalyptic world, gets caught up helping rebel Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) try to escape to her homeland with Immortan Joe’s wives. From the starting frame, it is a non-stop action film. Don’t expect a lot of plot or dialogue, but the majority of people won’t care because it makes up for it in so many other ways. It still carries a surprising amount of emotional heft through strong performances from Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron and an epic musical score. The director, George Miller, also clearly spent a vast amount of time re-crafting the post-apocalyptic world for the movie, which pays homage to the original films while taking advantage of modern technology. The creative, crazy world is something to be truly appreciated by movie lovers.
Fury Road is sure to become a cult classic like the originals. You will definitely have a good time if you are a fan of the originals or a just a newcomer that appreciates great movies. It is probably one of the best movies you are going to see this year.
